The Baton Rouge Assembly hosted its 57th annual ball at the Raising Cane's River Center Nov. 24 to present 15 young women. Welcoming members and guests was Assembly Chairman Chris Hall, who with wife Cathy also recognized ball Chairman Drew Patty and wife Robin; next year's ball Chairman Trey McCowan and wife Autumn; and next year's Assembly Chairman Keith Armstrong and wife Mary Beth.

The debs are Mary Elizabeth Barksdale, daughter of Drs. Sharon and Phillip Anthony Barksdale; Katherine Landry Barton, daughter of Kellie and Robert Wylie Barton; Claire Elizabeth Cordell, daughter of Holli and Robert Vaughan Montague Cordell III; Mary Casey Countryman, daughter of Shannon and Clay James Countryman; Maggie Keller Dabadie, daughter of Rachel and Joseph Charles Dabadie III; Anna Elizabeth Deshotels, daughter of Cyndi and David Mark Deshotels; Fallon Francis Gerald, daughter of Meg and Donald Francis Gerald Jr.; Margaret Elize Higgins, daughter of Michelle and John Miles Higgins, of St. Francisville; Margaret Ann Kimble, daughter of Molly and Michael Duane Kimble; Mackenzie Theresa Mire, daughter of Dawn and Jeffrey Wayne Mire; Emily Mary Moore, daughter of Brandi and Steven James Moore; Hannah Sebastain Oatley, daughter of Aimée Stuckey Kilchrist and Donald Townsend Oatley II; Sarah Catherine Saurage, daughter of Catherine and Matthew Craig Saurage; Whitney Estelle Say, daughter of Suzette and George Douglas Say and Ysabella Carmen St. Amant, daughter of Gabriella and Dr. Marshall Scarle St. Amant.

Countryman was presented by family friend and past Assembly Chairman John Michael Selsner Sr. The other debs were presented by their fathers.

Music for the presentation was by the Chad Braud Quartet. Afterward, the band Sha'on & Success provided dance music. After the ball, the parents of the debs hosted a midnight breakfast at the River Center.

The debs began their day with a rehearsal under the direction of debutante co-chairwomen Carter Stone and Debbie Landry. Also assisting with rehearsal were Manette Sammons, Gabriella St. Amant and former Assembly deb McKenzie Womack. Stone and Landry also served as deb chaperones for the evening.

The rehearsal was followed by a brunch for the debs and their escorts at the Capital Hilton's Heidelberg Room, where Hall presented each deb with an engraved gold bracelet from the Assembly to commemorate the occasion.

Krewe if Cypress

The following night, Plaquemine's Krewe of Cypress hosted its Debutante Presentation Ball at the Carl Grant Civic Center. Introduced by master of ceremonies Bert Allain were Landry Catherine Chopin, daughter of Wendy and Dr. Lamy Jean Chopin III, of Missouri City, Texas; Madeline Klein Kirby, daughter Dana and Klein Kirby; Catherine Elizabeth LeBlanc, daughter of Caroline D. Wolf, of Baton Rouge, and Stephen LeBlanc; Courtney Elizabeth LoBue, daughter of Tyla LoBue and Shane LoBue; and Raleigh Elisabeth Patrick, daughter of Elisabeth Hebert Patrick, of Port Allen.

Chopin was escorted by James Dore, and Patrick was escorted by Darren Trahan. The other debs were escorted by their fathers.

The debs will also participate in the krewe's upcoming Mardi Gras ball.

Chairing this year's ball were Morgan Allain and Vanessa Moore. Champagne servers for the official toast to the coterie were Sammy Carville and Dr. Patrick Dooley.
