Gloria Moncada has been named manager of ExxonMobil's Baton Rouge refinery, more than 25 years after first starting her career there with the company.

Moncada will take over as manager on Jan. 1. She replaces Mark Northcutt, who has headed the refinery for five years. Northcutt is transferring to Houston, where he will serve as manager, U.S. South Fuels, for ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants Co.

Moncada is a native of Philadelphia and earned a bachelors in chemical engineering from Drexel University. She worked at the Baton Rouge refinery from 1992 to 1999 and held a variety of positions with the company in places such as Dallas, Singapore and Fairfax, Virginia. Company officials said she is the first woman to serve as manager of the Baton Rouge refinery.

She moved into her most current role as the ExxonMobil Americas crude optimization manager in Spring, Texas, in 2016.

During his time at the Baton Rouge refinery, Northcutt championed the North Baton Rouge Industrial Training Initiative in association with Baton Rouge Community College and contractor companies. Northcutt also served on the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association and the Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance.

The Baton Rouge Refinery is the nation’s fourth-largest refinery, with a workforce of more than 3,700 employees and contractors.
