New program offers entrepreneurs training and possibly $50,000 in funding

Entrepreneurs have until Dec. 31 to apply for the Delta I-Fund, a new program that could provide training and up to $50,000 in funding to the startups accepted.

Delta I-Fund is an early stage, proof-of-concept fund formed to capitalize and train entrepreneurs in the eight-state Delta Regional Authority territory. The fund is administered by the Innovation Hub at Winrock International, in partnership with entrepreneurial support organizations throughout the Delta region, including the Louisiana Technology Park

Each program will include around 15 teams. Each team must have at least two team members, and a minimum of three is preferable  Single-founder companies are ineligible. An experienced mentor from the business community will be assigned to each team.

The fund is looking for business models that include patented university research; software and other information technology solutions; and any other patented or proprietary technology or innovation that provides a competitive advantage.
