I’LL never forget the day I found out through my annoying oldest brother that Santa was in fact our mum and dad and sucked ALL of the joy out of Christmas right there and then.

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m still not over it.

Moving on a few gazillion years later — and parents are concerned their kids are also going to have their dreams shattered thanks to Amazon’s Christmas commercial spruiking what’s on offer to buy your kids this festive season.

The controversial ad shows a dad walk in the front door with an armful of Amazon parcels — but then has to quickly hide behind a wall as his kids come screaming down the stairs. Once they are safely out of sight — he sneaks up the stairs to hide the presents.

Parents have expressed outrage on Twitter stating the advertisement has put them in a very difficult position with their kids.

“Thanks @amazon for your advert my 3 year old is asking why the man is hiding with presents, asking if he’s Santa. #confusing #Christmas.”

Some claimed the company had ruined the true Christmas spirit for little ones everywhere.

“So it’s Amazon that delivers Christmas is it? Disgusting that kids who believe in Santa are shown their dad running about with Amazon presents. This kills Christmas,” one tweeter wrote.

Another said: “You just spoilt the Christmas spirit for children with your advert, well anything to get a sale eh!!?”

“@amazon well done! You officially have this year’s worst Christmas advert! Last year’s was really good too. And it should be Santa in the ads!” said one more Twitter user.

AMAZON’S RESPONSE

A spokesman for Amazon explained the situation to the CNET saying: “Father Christmas and his elves are no doubt working around the clock to get presents to girls and boys around the world.

“These are just a few extra to give a little love from parents.”
