Big changes are under way at CultureMap, the Houston-based statewide arts/entertainment/culture site. Arden Ward has been named statewide editorial director and Steven Devadanam takes over as editor of the Houston edition, replacing Clifford Pugh.

CultureMap publishes editions for Houston, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Dallas and Austin.

Ward has been with CultureMap since 2011, first as executive editor in Austin and then network managing editor. Devadanam is new to the organization, having been at Village Voice Media, Modern Luxury and NFL Network. He replaces Clifford Pugh as editor-in-chief who had been with CultureMap since its founding in 2009. Prior to that, Pugh had been fashion editor at the Houston Chronicle.

On his Facebook page Pugh wrote, "It's been a great run and too much fun, but I am no longer at CultureMap as the owners have decided to go in a different direction under new editorial leadership. It's been an amazing, incredible ride for the last 8 years, working with so many talented people and getting the opportunity to tell the story of Houston life is so many different ways. I will continue to cherish every moment of the grand adventure. Now, I finally have time for long lunches and happy hours to catch up with long neglected friends!"

These moves come on the heels of such recent staff changes as Stephanie Allmon Merry, from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, being named Dallas-Fort Worth editor, Katie Friel taking over as Austin editor, and Brandon Watson coming on board as Austin food editor.

CultureMap was acquired by Gow Media in February, 2017.
