Leslie Sobel, 27, has worked at Graeter's in Northbrook since it opened about more than two years ago, and she is currently an assistant manager. She graduated from the American Academy of Art in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in fine arts, and she is considering going back to school to take science classes. She is engaged, and she has a 1-year-old daughter. She lives in Northbrook and grew up in Mexico City.

Q: How do you like working at Graeter's?

A: I love it. It's always fun and people are happy coming in. I love the excitement of the little kids.

Q: What are some of your hobbies?

A: I like to draw and paint, watch movies and eat.

Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

A: I would go to Europe, just go to a lot of museums and eat good food.

Q: Who is someone you look up to?

A: My grandmother. She raised eight kids by herself, and they all ended up successful. She is a strong lady.

Q: If your life was made into a movie, which actress would you want to play you?

A: America Ferrera. She's just so fun and sassy.

Q: How would you spend an unexpected day off?

A: I'd go to the museums, or aquarium or the zoo in the city. I'd make it worth while.

Q: If you went to karaoke tonight, what song would you sing?

A: Something by David Bowie.

Q: Do you have any words of encouragement for the community?

A: Do what you want to do even if it scares you. Tell people you love them.
