Convicted sex offender accused of having child porn on phone

TRENTON -- A man subjected to lifetime supervision for sexually assaulting a minor in 2000 had child pornography on his smart phone, prosecutors said Tuesday. Robert Autrey, 48, of Trenton appeared in Mercer County Superior Court Tuesday for violating his parole supervision. A judge ordered him detained until the case is resolved. Autrey was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child less than 13 years-old, in 2002 in Burlington County. Times of Trenton archives show Autrey, then 31 and a carnival worker from Washington state, assaulted the girl while seating her on a train ride at the Holy Assumption Church's 30th annual carnival in Florence in June 2000. As part of his plea bargain two years later, Autrey was sentenced to serve a county jail sentence and was given community supervision for life.  Under the terms of his supervision, Autrey must live in an approved and registered residence, is prohibited from possessing any devices with internet capabilities and is prohibited from possessing pornography.  Autrey's parole officer was conducting a random search his residence recently when he found the smart phone.
