A man was found shot to death outside an Algiers fire station Saturday evening, New Orleans Police said. According to preliminary police reports, fire fighters at NOFD Engine 33’s quarters in the 1300 block of Flanders Street, near General Meyer Avenue, reported hearing shots fired in the area about 7:40 p.m. When the fire fighters went outside the station, they found a man lying facedown on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. The Coroner’s office has not yet identified the victim of the fatal shooting, but police said the man killed was 29-years-old. No further information was immediately given. Other crimes reported to the New Orleans Police Department Saturday into Sunday morning included the following: - A woman was robbed at knifepoint during a card game in Gert Town early Sunday morning. Police said the victim, 57, was playing cards in the 7900 block of Olive Street when the woman she was playing with left and returned with a knife. The knife-wielding woman demanded her money back from the victim and a fight ensued, leaving the victim with a minor cut to the neck. Police said the victim’s son arrived and the suspect fled the scene. - A woman was robbed while walking in Treme Saturday evening about 9:37 p.m. Police said the woman, 44, was walking to her home in the 2000 block of Dumaine Street when she was approached from behind by a male who attempted to pull her bag from her shoulder.
