MORRISVILLE, Pa. -- A repeat sex offender was sentenced to serve 20 to 50 years in prison Monday for raping a 12-year-old boy here, officials said. Richard Evans, 35, had pleaded no contest to to the crime, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office announced. Evans had been declared a sexually violent predator in 2015 after he was convicted indecent assault on a 9-year old girl. His conviction required him to register his address with state police for the rest of his life. officials said. When Evans was released from prison in December 2016, he failed to register and was arrested on the violation, the office said.  During that investigation, a 12-year-old boy - who was in the 4th grade - told police that Evans had raped him. In a January 2017 police interview Evans admitted to showing the boy pornographic videos, and having anal and oral sex with him. Deputy District Attorney Kate Kohler and defense attorney Paul Lang negotiated a plea in which Evans would serve a total of 20 to 50 years for the sex offenses, his failure to report, and his parole violations. Bucks County Common Pleas Court Judge Raymond F. McHugh accepted Evans' plea and imposed the negotiated sentence. He found that there is great risk that Evans would commit another crime if not imprisoned for a long amount of time. Olivia Rizzo may be reached at orizzo@njadvancemedia.com.
