WASHINGTON TWP. -- Police are investigating a theft and assault at a cellphone store in the same shopping plaza where an armed robbery occurred days earlier. Two men entered the Cricket Wireless store at 3501 Black Horse Pike in Crosskeys Commons on Saturday around 1 p.m. One man removed three phones from a display and tried to leave the store. An employee tried to stop him and was pushed to the floor, police said. During the struggle, one thief said he had a gun, but none was shown. Both suspects ran from the store. They are described as black, one 6 feet tall and the other 5 feet 4 inches tall. They wore black hooded sweatshirts. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Detective Ryan Kelly at 856-589-0330 or by email at rtkelly@pd.twp.washington.nj.us. This crime followed an armed robbery on Nov. 7 at the GameStop in Crosskeys Commons. In that incident, two men made off with cash, gaming systems and other equipment. The suspects in that case were described as black, one standing 6 feet tall and the other 5 feet 10. Both wore black hooded sweatshirts, jeans and blue bandanas covering their faces. Police said Tuesday that they don't believe the crimes are connected. Matt Gray may be reached at mgray@njadvancemedia.com. Follow him on Twitter @MattGraySJT.
