UCF coach Scott Frost lines up as scout team QB to help Knights prep for Navy

UCF coach Scott Frost isn’t afraid to get down and dirty when it comes to teaching his players what they need to know about stopping Navy’s option offense. Frost put on a helmet and took snaps as the scout team quarterback during practice this week. “You see him in there running around getting us prepared," UCF linebacker Shaquem Griffin said Monday after the Knights’ workout. “It’s crazy because he is running so fast that if you are slacking, it’s going to show.” Frost ran an option offense as a quarterback at Nebraska, leading the Cornhuskers to a national title and has worked to stay in shape after his pro football career ended, often running extra laps after UCF practices and regularly playing pick-up basketball games. Quarterback McKenzie Milton didn’t see his coach taking snaps against the defense, but he’s not surprised. “I’m sure he’s giving them a good look,” Milton said. “He’s done that for a number of years at Nebraska, so he’s still a pretty good athlete at 42.” Frost isn’t worried about his players holding back either. “If I was out there, I wouldn’t need them to take it easy on me,” he said after practice Monday.
