After years of rapidly appreciating prices, Denver’s marketplace is feeling a fall chill — and that’s creating some sizable discounts in the prices of new homes that were scheduled to deliver before Thanksgiving. If you’ve been shopping for a family-sized home or ranch plan in popular new-home areas like west Arvada, Thornton, Lafayette and west Parker, Meritage Homes is waiting for you to take a second look at those — some of them discounted by as much as $30,000, with extra appliances added to boot. Four miles east of where master-planned Thornton has landed a Denver Premium Outlets mall set to open next year, Meritage is showing Aspen Reserve, with two model homes that display an “Energy Information Center” that conveys how well-prepared these homes are for cold weather.
